Beat Magazine
The Beat was a special instore-only magazine along the lines of Record Mirror and Smash Hits but exclusive to HMV Record stores.
Produced by the makers of Blitz magazine, the title had similar 80’s high-fashion typography & journalism.
It was published approximately 10 times a year by Beat Productions Ltd and was free to customers who purchased an Album, 12 inch Single, Cassette Tape or Video Cassette. Otherwise the Magazine cost around 45 pence.
The magazine featured articles and interviews but was mostly a marketing tool for the store to showcase new releases to advertise to the general public.
Little more is known about this publication like when was was the last issue published.
Still it is great to see some of the issues that I have and relive a time when music was great.
