Disco 45

When Smash Hits came out it was felt that the magazine was unique in that it not only gave it's readers information on the latest pop stars but it also provided Song Lyrics to the hits of the day.

Whiz back to 1970 and the magazine that was the inspiration to the publishers of Smash Hits, namely Disco 45 Songbook (the Songbook was added later). This publication first hit the streets in late November 1970 and provided it's readers with a mixture of information about the latest Pop Stars and Lyrics to Songs from the Charts.  

You can see where the inspiration came from for the Smash Hits Magazine and later Number One Magazine.

Disco 45 Songbook was published by the Trevor Bolton Partnership of Rye, Sussex (UK).

Due to the ever popularity of Smash Hits and Number One the magazine was losing sales.  It went through a revamp and re-launched as a Poser Magazine with issue 143.  This lasted to at least issue 155.  I am not sure when it was cancelled but I suspect issue 155 could be it's last.  

In 1979 Disco 45's published a sister publication called Chart Songwords.  The publication followed the same format as Disco 45.
