In 1981 NME gave their readers the chance to get their hands on 2 Cassette Albums.  These were called:

NME / Rough Trade C81

Dancin' Masters

You had to send off Tokens (printed in the issues) and send a Cheque or Postal Oder and your Cassette will be on it's way.

Below are the information on those Cassettes.

NME / Rough Trade C81 Cassette

C81 was a cassette compiled for the British music paper NME in 1981 (hence (C)assette 81) and released in conjunction with the record label Rough Trade. Featuring a number of contemporary musical acts and performers, it was intended to mark the first five years of the independent label movement in the UK record industry and Rough Trade itself. It was the first in a series of many cassette releases from the paper

The NME / Rough Trade C81 Cassette consisted of 24 Tracks and was released in February 1981.  The Reader needed to collect 2 different Tokens.  Together with £1.99 plus 25p by Cheque or Postal Order and within 28 days the Cassette would be yours to enjoy.
