1989 Poll Winners

Smash Hits published the 'Eleventh Annual Readers Award Voting Form' in the 20th September -

4th October 1989 issue of Smash Hits.

 

The Voting Form was to be used to ask the readers what their favourites were from for the year 1989.  

 

The Poll had  categories such as Best Group, though to the Most Fanciable Human Being.

 

The results were then published in the 1st November - 14th November 1989 issue of the magazine.

 

This was also the 2nd year that the awards were broadcast live on BBC1.

Poll Winners Party

This was the second year that the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party took place.

 

This time it was at London Arena - Docklands in London and was brought by Harvey Goldsmith Entertainments, Janet Street-Porter in association with Swatch.

 

The party was on Sunday 29th October 1989 and was broadcast on BBC1 at 3 pm. with a simultaneous broadcast on Radio 1.

 

Phillip Schofield presented the show.
