In the issue 15th October - 28th October 1981, Smash Hits gave away it's First Free Giant Double Sided Poster measuring 34" by 22".

 

On one side was Adam Ant while on the reverse was

Spandau Ballet and The Police.

 

However Two days before the poster was issued Smash Hits were prevented from using the image of Adam Ant that is shown below due to the company that owned the photo deciding to release it themselves.
