Kipper Williams

Christopher 'Kipper' Williams is a cartoonist who draws for newspapers, magazines, audio visual presentations and greetings cards.

​

He was born on the Wirral, Cheshire, on 30th December 1951, the son of Aubrey Williams, a local government officer.

 

His nickname 'Kipper' came from a childhood pronunciation of 'Christopher.' He attended Ellesmere Port Grammar School, and from 1970 to 1974 studied fine art at Leeds University.

​

Kipper Williams was the Second resident cartoonist (and longest running) on Smash Hits with his first cartoon appearing in the 19th August 1982 edition.  His final cartoon appeared in the 12th April 1995 issue.

​

Kipper would continue to appear in some Yearbooks and specials.
