Merger
At the beginning of the year Record Mirror was still showing the Header as Record and Radio Mirror. This continued until the issue dated 24th August 1984 when the logo was changed back to just Record Mirror. This lasted from 24th August - 21st September 1974.
The 21st September 1974 issue of Record Mirror saw the publication merge again with another publication entitled Popswop.
PopSwop - Issue 103
21st September 1974
Final Issue
Popswop was a Pop magazine aimed primarily at the teenage girl market. It started out on the 7th October 1972 with a David Cassidy cover and published a total of 103 issues lasting until 21st September 1974.
Popswop was the essential music mag purchase for all 9 to 13 year olds in the 1970's! You got full poster pages that you could cut out and plaster all over your bedroom!
During its lifetime it provided its buyers with several free flexi-discs before it's merger with Record Mirror.
When it merged with Record Mirror the main thing that was carried over was the Centre Spread. This eventually became sporadic in later years as the pages were used more for 2 page interviews with bands.
