Superpop merger

With the issue dated 2nd February 1980, Record Mirror merged with Superpop magazine.

It had been announced in both magazines the previous week

(see below right 26th January 1980 issue of Record Mirror).

Superpop was a weekly large format mag in the same vain as Record Mirror.  Launching on the 27th January 1979 it lasted 53 issues before it merged. The final issue dated 26th January 1980 (see below left) featured the Bee Gees on the front cover.

The new logo for the combined magazines changed to Record Mirror and Superpop (as shown left).

This lasted until the 19th April 1980 when the Superpop Logo was added to the front cover for the last time.

The following issue dated 26th April the Superpop logo was dropped and Superpop was no more.
